Candidates for Porcelain Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are tooth-shaped covers that protect the front surface of your tooth. Like the name suggests, they’re made from a thin porcelain and are a more long-term alternative to composite veneers. To prepare you for your porcelain veneers, Dr. Elena C. Puig will need to file down your teeth to fit the veneer over the front.

Dr. Puig will then be tasked with making impressions of your teeth before sending them to our lab partner to make your custom veneers. While this process takes place, you’ll be required to wear temporary veneers to protect your teeth.

Once your veneers have been applied with a special adhesive glue, you’re good to go. As long as you take care of them, there’s nothing stopping your new porcelain veneers lasting anywhere between 10 and 15 years.

How do I Know if I Might Need Veneers?

If your teeth are in bad condition, you may need veneers. Stained teeth are easily rectified with veneers and there are a wide range of cosmetic issues that can be fixed with porcelain veneers. If your dental health is good and the only problems with your teeth are aesthetic, you’re likely to be a good candidate for veneers.

Who Are Good Candidates for Porcelain Veneers?

The ideal candidate for porcelain veneers is somebody who has serious aesthetic flaws with their smile. As mentioned above, veneers are only suitable for people whose dental problems are aesthetic. Any other issues would need to be resolved before veneers were fitted.

If you’re unhappy with your smile but otherwise have good dental health, you’re the perfect candidate for veneers. Porcelain veneers are a strictly cosmetic procedure and are not an option for people in need of restorative dentistry work.

The following list of issues are ones that we can potentially fix with porcelain veneers.

Cracks or Chips

A crack or a chip is enough to ruin your perfect smile. Even a small crack or chip can really knock your confidence. With a porcelain veneer, you can hide these cracks and chips and have the smile of your dreams. A porcelain veneer looks extremely natural and is indistinguishable from your own teeth.

If you’re looking for the most natural means of fixing cracks or chips, a porcelain veneer could be right for you. As long as the structural integrity of your tooth isn’t impacted, a porcelain veneer will be great for you. If your tooth is severely cracked or chipped, however, it’s likely that a crown would be a better option for your tooth.

Stained and Discolored Teeth

More often than not, stained or discolored teeth can be rectified with teeth whitening treatments. Over recent years, such treatments have increased in efficacy and even at-home treatment options can provide an effective means of whitening your teeth.

However, in extreme instances, it can be near impossible to remove stains. The most serious of stains can survive multiple whitening sessions and still be noticeable afterwards. With a porcelain veneer, these hard to remove stains can be hidden from view. An accurate and honest assessment of your stained and discolored teeth is all part of the service that Dr. Puig and the team at Dynamic Smile Design provides.

Gaps or Spacing Problems

It’s an unfortunate fact of life that some people are just born with gaps or spacing problems in their smile. Porcelain veneers have gained the affectionate nickname of “instant orthodontics” thanks to their capability of transforming gaps and spacing problems in an instant.

With a porcelain veneer, our team can transform the look of your smile by enhancing the shape and size of a tooth to better fit your smile or to match the surrounding teeth. Porcelain veneers are one of the most effective ways that Dr. Puig can address your gaps, uneven teeth, and even misaligned teeth.

A few veneers can work wonders for your smile and can have the same visual effect as a full orthodontic procedure. If the only issue with your teeth is related to their spacing, it’s possible that porcelain veneers can help.

A Total Smile Makeover

Porcelain veneers are extremely versatile. An experienced cosmetic dentist, such as Dr. Puig, can use veneers in such a way that facilitates a complete renovation of your smile. If you’re looking for a full smile makeover, look no further than the team at Dynamic Smile Design.

A full smile makeover can be completed with porcelain veneers. There’s only so much that can be achieved without the use of porcelain veneers, but with the expert treatment available from Dynamic Smile Design, you get exceptional treatment.

A set of porcelain veneers can hide all of the imperfections on your natural teeth and truly make your smile a thing of beauty. If you have natural imperfections in your teeth, porcelain veneers are exactly what you need.

How Dr. Puig and the Dynamic Smile Design Team Can Help

Here at Dynamic Smile Design, we’re more than happy to talk you through your treatment options and help you decide whether or not porcelain veneers are right for you. We know that each person is different but as using veneers can help to correct a plethora of issues, we advocate for their use in many cases. For people living with more than one dental problem, for example, a crooked tooth and stained teeth, having two procedures can be avoided and instead both problems can be resolved with porcelain veneers.
