Many patients shudder at the thought of having to wear braces. If you want to straighten your teeth discreetly – without sacrificing your image – then Invisalign clear braces may be the right solution for you. Orlando Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Elena C. Puig offers state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment to give patients beautiful smiles, comfortably and quickly. All it takes is a few visits to our office to get your customized aligners, and regular check-ins to ensure your non-invasive clear braces are doing their job.
Invisalign is a form of braces that use clear tray aligners as opposed to metallic brackets. Custom made for the user, based on their mouth shape, and formed with Invisalign’s own blend of plastic, the aligners place pressure on specific parts of your teeth which slowly moves them into a better position.
Invisalign consists of a series of custom-made aligners. As opposed to braces that are uncomfortable, Invisalign’s aligners gradually shift your teeth into place without the use of braces and are customized for your mouth, so they do not rub on your cheeks or gums. The big advantage of Invisalign is that they are virtually invisible. The benefits of Invisalign over traditional brackets is that you can remove the aligners to eat, drink, brush or floss, or even for special occasions.

Invisalign is the contemporary, up-to-date, and improved version of traditional braces for patients who want a straighter smile without worrying about brackets attached to their teeth. While Invisalign is popular with teenagers who are self-conscious about their looks, many other types of patients are a good candidate for Invisalign:
If any of these sound familiar, Invisalign could be the perfect solution. They can straighten your teeth effectively and quickly, without discomfort and self-esteem issues associated with traditional braces.
The first step to starting the Invisalign straightening process is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Puig at our office. During the consultation, we discuss your options and ensure you are a good candidate for Invisalign before designing an individualized treatment plan.
At your initial appointment, we take precise impressions and dental X-rays to ensure your aligners are customized for your teeth and give you precise instructions on how best to use your aligners. A new retainer is worn every two weeks to help your teeth along.
Every four to six weeks you come in for a follow-up consultation, where we adjust your aligners and make any necessary changes. Overall, the treatment lasts between nine and fifteen months approximately, depending on how much shifting is being done on your teeth. Once the process is complete, you will have beautiful, beaming white teeth that feel like you have a new set of teeth.
Invisalign isn’t painful, although some patients report feeling a slight amount of pressure for the first 72 hours after a new set is inserted, which is similar to when traditional braces are tightened. While the aligner trays are not like brackets and wires for braces, they can cause some discomfort, but this lasts at most for a few days once a new aligner is put in. As patients tend to wear a new aligner every two weeks, temporary discomfort can occur every two weeks. But you find your teeth get accustomed to the new aligners, and the soreness disappears.
Invisalign is designed to work as effectively as traditional braces while remaining discreet and comfortable. Patients experience:
Dr. Puig will precisely plan your Invisalign treatment from start to finish. A certified Invisalign lab will custom-make your clear braces in sets and deliver them to our office. Dr. Puig will then instruct you on proper wear and care – typically, aligners are worn all night and as much during the day as possible. Each set of aligners is worn for two weeks, then replaced by the next pair in your series.
If you are regretting not having braces as a child, or you are worried that wearing “train tracks” on your teeth will make you more self-conscious in the workplace, Invisalign could be the answer you are looking for. With clear aligners instead of traditional braces, you can get the smile you want. If you think Invisalign can give you the smile you've always dreamed of, call our office or use this form to request a consultation with Dr. Puig. Braces and retainers are a key part of dental health, but Invisalign is the next step that will give you the straight teeth you need without compromising your smile.
