Importance of Oral Surgery

Dynamic Smile Design is thrilled to add the unique services of an oral surgeon to our team to provide our patients with the highest quality of care when dental surgery is required. Oral surgeons complete an additional four to six years of residency training in surgical procedures beyond their dental training. These years of training are core to their understanding of how the facial region’s soft tissues, bones, teeth, muscles, and tendons work together. This knowledge is instrumental in their ability to perform complex surgical procedures such as wisdom teeth removal and dental implant placement.

Dental Implants

The surgical placement of dental implants involves thoroughly understanding how the jawbone supports the teeth and distributes bite force to place each implant in the optimal location. Dr. Milton is one of North America’s leading dental implant surgeons, having established himself as a leader in precise, successful placement.

All-On-4

All-On-4 implants utilize advanced dental technology and precision placement to support a full arch of replacement teeth on just four implants in the jawbone. This innovative technique can provide a full set of teeth without the need for bone grafting in most cases.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Whether you are in your teens, twenties, or older, wisdom teeth removal is a complex but common surgery to remove the third molars to correct or prevent dental problems. Dr. Milton removes wisdom teeth using minimally invasive techniques for faster recovery and patient comfort.

Dynamic Smile Design is proud to be a multidisciplinary office offering complete family dentistry, periodontal care, and oral surgery. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Patel or Dr. Milton, don’t hesitate to contact our office at Dynamic Smile Design Office Phone Number (407) 895-5600.

Oral Surgeon FAQ’s

Will the oral surgeon sedate me for oral surgery?

It depends on the type and complexity of the procedure. A local anesthetic is always applied to the surgical site. In most cases, an additional form of sedation is also provided to relax the patient and ensure a pain-free experience. Sedation options are reviewed with the patient at their initial consultation.

How is an oral surgeon different from a dentist?

An oral surgeon is a dentist who has completed between four and six additional years or intensive training as a surgeon in a hospital or clinical setting.

Why should an oral surgeon extract my wisdom teeth?

While dentists can perform simple extractions that do not require surgery, removing wisdom teeth is a surgical procedure. Wisdom teeth removal involves cutting into the gums and jawbone to release teeth that are impacted or trapped fully or partially in the jawbone. This requires surgical expertise to avoid injuring adjacent teeth and removing the teeth with minimal damage to the surrounding bone and tissues. Oral surgeons have several years of surgical training that dentists do not have, making them the ideal choice for wisdom teeth removal.

Is oral surgery covered by my dental insurance?

If your procedure is medically necessary, it will be covered by most dental insurance policies in part or in full. You should contact your insurance provider to determine your coverage limits and any copays or deductibles. If your procedure is considered cosmetic, it will not be covered by most insurance.
