The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation – History Research and Education Center
Founded in 1994, the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation – History Research and Education Center is an organization that coordinates the preservation of the history of West Orange County, Florida. The Winter Garden Heritage Museum is located inside a building that once housed the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. It displays an extensive collection of artifacts and photographs, as well as a large section dedicated to local war heroes. These include items donated by Winter Garden residents who served in the wars. They include a World War I helmet worn by Winter Garden resident Howard Bray. Other displays include old newspaper articles, photos, citrus crate labels, and Timucua Indian artifacts.
The Winter Garden Heritage Museum also includes a section devoted to the history of West Orange County. Visitors can learn about the history of the city, including its early settlers and transformations. There are also exhibits devoted to the railroads and local citrus labels.
